Brandon Bernstein is a musician, educator, entrepreneur and social activist. He's a published author and a TED speaker. Bernstein was a professor at University of Southern California, University of Louisville, Pasadena City College, Musicians Institute, Cypress College, and Chaffey College where he lectured undergraduate and graduate students since 2003. In 2013, his debut CD But Beautiful reached #7 on the jazz radio charts nationally. In 2015, Bernstein founded the social enterprise Music Lifeboat, following his passion to make high-quality music education more accessible.
Bernstein is a founding faculty member and Board member of TREE Academy, www.treeacademy.org, where he is Musical Director and teaches Entrepreneurship & Design Thinking. Bernstein is the director of jazz for the non-profit Street Symphony, Advisory Board Member for the non-profit Harmony Project of America and on the Education Committee for The Midnight Mission where he created a music education program.
At the age of 18, Bernstein was awarded scholarships for all of his study at Berklee School of Music, Concordia University (in Montreal, Canada), The University of Louisville, and The University of Southern California where he received a Doctorate in Music in 2008 and graduated at 28 years of old.
As a musician, Brandon Bernstein has been described as “…one of the most impressive young guitarists on the scene.” (Sid Jacobs). World-renown guitarist Larry Koonse describes Brandon’s sound as “…one of the most gorgeous guitar sounds he has ever heard on record.” Brandon’s debut CD, But Beautiful, was #7 nationally on jazz radio charts in 2013.
Social Justice and working with communities is very important to Bernstein. He has performed and taught at over 100 prisons, homeless shelters, veterans groups, hospitals, after-school programs and nursing homes over the past five years. Terry Carter (Founder)
Musician, Educator, Entrepreneur and Author M.M. USC
Terry Carter is a Los Angeles-based musician, author, and entrepreneur. Some of his credits include work with Weezer, Josh Groban, and Grammy winning composer Chris Tin (Calling All Dawns/X2: X-Men United), bassist Duff McKagen (Guns n’ Roses/Velvet Revolver), and producer Charles Gooden (Santana/Rolling Stones). As an entrepreneur he founded Blinky Publishing, which distributes his line of guitar instructional books and apps, Rock Like The Pros (www.rocklikethepros.com). He also a co-founder of the music educational app BandBlast. Terry received a Masters of Music from the University of Southern California in Studio/Jazz Guitar and a Bachelor of Music from San Diego State University in Music Education. www.terrycarter.com
